Day Eighteen.5549.9km
July 28
Wow. I'm dirty. My hair is sticking out all over the place. I have practically no clean clothing. Yesterday, we ran out of water and food. The car might explode soon. We're all kinda strung out, but we're having good times.
Drove pretty much across Newfoundland today. At a motel in Clarenville or something. It was a pretty long drive. Newfoundland is crazy. A lot of it is emptiness. Gorgeous, amazing emptiness. I don't think we left enough time for it. Pretty soon we have to leave. I've just realized that we have one more day here than I thought. That's seriously awesome. So what have I missed...we camped for free last night, 'cause we're badass. We all drank out of this river on the hike. The water tasted amazing. Then we got to the other side and saw a sign that said the water was not fit to drink. I seem to be alive though. We all have righteous sunburns from the hike too. Opted for a motel so that we can shower and all that good stuff.
Pretty uneventful day, really. It was one of those travel days. Stopped for lunch in Grand Falls-Windsor. The whole town seemed deserted. Empty. Dead. Then we finally came across the Wal-Mart. Bright and shiny and alive with the lifeblood of the city. I can think of no better example of the destructive power of Wal-Mart than this place. Sad.
The trip is starting to feel like it's ending. Also sad. There's still another week or so though I guess, but one of those days will be spent on a ferry. A seventeen hour ferry. That's a really long time.
P.S. We watched the stars from the campsite. I could see so many. And there were enough shooting stars for a lifetime of wishes. This place is seriously magical. Also, we've been out of touch with civilization for a while. No internet, our phones barely work here. Magical. My family probably thinks I'm dead.
