Day Fifteen-Entry Two

First sight of land..never never land

Day Fifteen
Entry Two

Sweet. I found my favorite pen.

We arrived in Newfoundland today. The ferry didn't arrive until 7:00 local time. It's fucked that Newfoundland has it's own time zone, by the way. This resulted in a mad scramble on our part to procure necessary materials such as: food and beer. We also had to find somewhere to sleep. Luckily we found a campsite about five minutes outside Port-aux-Basques.

But holy shit. I was certainly expecting Newfoundland to be amazing, but it's exceeded my expectations. It's amazing here. Everywhere I look, I see rocks and hills and just amazing scenery. This could be Viking country (which it was...or is...apparently). Just amazing. And we've seen such a small part. A tiny part. The nearest significant settlement is over two hundred kilometers away. St. John's is nearly nine hundred kilometers. I get the impression that we have a lot of insane drives ahead of us. There's still lots of time though.

Even this campsite is epic. Our site is perched at the top of the tall banks of a river, which we can hear. Going down there is really cool. The river just cuts it's way through ancient rocks. There's even a waterfall. I think I love Newfoundland now.
